Product Excellence Standard

Astiva Corn Excellence Standard

Astiva classifies corn using practical commercial parameters such as moisture level, damaged kernels, broken kernels, foreign material, cleanliness, odor, pest condition, and buyer suitability.

Reference basis: SNI-style corn kernel quality parameters and buyer specifications. Moisture is a maximum-based parameter; extremely low moisture is not automatically premium because over-dried corn may become brittle.

Moisture-Based Corn Classification

Astiva uses moisture as one of the primary screening indicators, not the only grading factor.

Excellent Grade

Moisture Range
12.0% – 14.0%
Commercial Position
Target for premium commercial supply; aligned with strict moisture control.

Standard Grade

Moisture Range
>14.0% – 15.0%
Commercial Position
Usable for general commercial requirements with buyer confirmation.

Utility Grade

Moisture Range
>15.0% – 17.0%
Commercial Position
Requires buyer approval and may need additional drying or handling.

Hold / Re-Dry Required

Moisture Range
>17.0%
Commercial Position
Not recommended for direct supply before re-drying or rework.

Over-Dried Risk

Moisture Range
<10.0%
Commercial Position
Not automatically premium; must check broken kernels and brittleness.

Corn Physical Quality Parameters

Excellent corn must also pass physical and cleanliness indicators.

Damaged kernels

Excellent Target
Max. 2% target
Hold / Reject Indicator
High damage, mold, or abnormal grain condition

Broken kernels

Excellent Target
Max. 1% target
Hold / Reject Indicator
Excessive broken kernels or brittle condition

Foreign material

Excellent Target
Max. 1% target
Hold / Reject Indicator
Stone, soil, trash, or foreign material above tolerance

Odor / pest

Excellent Target
Normal odor and no live pests
Hold / Reject Indicator
Musty, sour, rotten odor, or live insects
Quality Note: Grades are internal commercial classifications for discussion and must be confirmed by sampling, lab testing when required, and final buyer acceptance.

Commercial Approach

Astiva structures business discussions around product specification, supply schedule, quality requirements, documentation, delivery terms, and sustainable payment arrangements.
